ARTG 10 - AESTHETIC DESIGNS
Project 5 - Motion Translation
Getting Started - Converting YouTube Video Clips to GIFs
There are many options for converting original game animations to looping GIFs {which is required for this project, and also can make the animation process MUCH easier, as they can be important into After Effects to use as a guide}. Below is a link to one option, using Make A GIF .com - it will add a watermark, but that is totally fine! It is also fine to use other options.
PART 1 - Keyframe Animation Basics
The videos below do not cover specific steps of the project, but go over keyframing basics and how to set up the project files and animation compositions with the required settings. Start here UNLESS you:
Have advanced experience with Adobe After Effects
AND know how to set up a 1920x1080 composition at 12 FPS for a duration of 5 seconds
AND know how to create solid layers, shape layers and individual shape objects
AND can create, edit, duplicate, and generally work with transformation keyframe animations for position, scale and rotation, and shape properties such as points + color.
Part 2 - Working with Shape Layers + Shapes
Part 3 - Working with Layers
Part 5 - Export + Submit
This video was slightly updated on 11/20 - the render process is the same, however - no need to watch the new video if you worked with the previous one, just move on to step two to export your Animated GIF.
