MODULE 1 - PROJECT INSTRUCTIONS

Image Library Step by step

Save images from the internet, and place them into an organized, structured file system. Exact folder names are up to you, but it should be relatively easy for another person to navigate. After saving all images and recording their ratings and original source URL in a text file, you are ready to start working in Photoshop.

Open Photoshop, then File > Open > and select one of the original images

Save the image in a new location - you can either create a new folder and save in this folder (recommended) or organize later using the finder.

File > Save As…> select the destination folder, set file format to JPG with the maximum quality. All other defaults are fine.

Select the CROP TOOL and in the top tool menu, set the crop tool to 1:1 Square ratio. Press and drag the crop tool within the image to select the image you want to keep. Press Enter to apply the crop or escape to cancel.

Resize the image to 1000 pixels wide by 1000 pixels tall

Image > Image Size > set the width to 1000 pixels (make sure its set to pixels, not inches).

Save the file: File > Save
Next save a new version of the file for the next set of images using Save As…
File > Save As > (same process as before, select new name + destination)

Turn the image “Black and White” - this is not the same as converting to “grayscale”, as the image will still be formatted to work with color

Image > Adjustments > Black + White > adjust sliders at desired, apply the adjustment

Save the file: File > Save
Next save a new version of the file for the next set of images using Save As…
File > Save As > (same process as before, select new name + destination)
