VIDEO MOSAIC PROJECT
“Meta-Realities” Mosaic
Video Mosaic Program
Developing Meta-Image Video Generators
The meta-animations {animations or videos built from smaller images} above are generated using a program developed in Max MSP. This program assigns a designated custom library of grayscale images to each “pixel” in a video.
The below images are “code snippets” describing this process - MAX MSP is a visual programming environments. First, a video processor converts videos to grayscale, crops and lowers all input video resolution to 64 x 64. Each pixel’s value is determined from 0 to 100, and then assigned a “pixel-image”, which are then stitched back into the pixel grid, as a single video frame. The current program runs at 12 FPS.
Project iterations
Visuals can be further adjusted based on motion and audio inputs from the viewer, and can be fully automated for unattended / interactive projection in exhibition spaces. Image inputs can be adjusted, and also generated by participant inputs.
