Project 3 Studio Videos Still Motion Portrait

Part 1 - BEFORE WORKING in Photoshop

Decide what motion you’d like to work with for this project, and record short videos of this motion. Try to be intentional with the framing of these videos, as well as the camera movement. For framing, ensure the subject in motion is large enough to be the focus of the video, is completely in the frame {or is not fully in the frame for intentional reasons} and surrounding elements don’t pull focus or block the subject. For camera movement,be intentional about this as well - some approaches to this project are better if the camera does not move, other approaches might work best with camera movement.

Ensure your videos are on your computer before opening them in Photoshop. It is not ideal to work with video over a cloud drive.

Part 2 - Working with Video in Photoshop

Setup and Opening Videos

Changing Video Dimensions / rotation

Copying and Pasting Full Frames

Applying Adjustments to Multiple Layers At Once

Selecting Parts of Frames for “Sequence Images”

Project Experimentation

This project is more flexible than the last 2 in terms of the visual designs and compositions that can successfully meet the project requirements. Have fun with this project, and take advantage of this flexibility - select a direction or approach you are excited about. As a designer, try create a still image that communicates information about movement or motion in ways that the video could not.
