EXAMPLE 9.1 PROJECT
Some help with exercise 9.1 - 15 second film challenge
Example Video Posted Below - READ THROUGH THIS ALL FIRST
If you are feeling stuck, here is an example of what we would consider a full credit 9.1 video project that does not use any human actors, or complicated scenes or effects. This is only ONE of one million directions to go with this project. Remember, the TAs and I are only looking for you to work with what you have and can do, and how you use your creativity to tackle this challenge. This was shot completely with an iPhone, in about 15 minutes, and then edited together in iMovie. The music is...possibly of me singing, plus a narration track, but remember, audio is not required for this project.
Important due date, extension info and final grade info posted below this video
The rubric for this Exercise 9.1:
You earn 2 pts by uploading 15 seconds of 9.1 footage to YouTube and submitting the correct link to Canvas.
You earn another 2 pts if that footage has some kind of editing or direction coming forth (this can be VERY preliminary or subtle)
You earn the final 2 pts for creativity, having fun, experimenting with the 15 second film challenge.
Total - 6 pts, which is equal to 6 pts of your final grade (like all discussion posts and exercises). So, if you are unable to complete this project, upload 15 seconds of partially edited footage to YouTube, send us the link via your Canvas submission, and you will have 4/6.
In other words - please don't tank your grade with this last project. We wanted it to be fun, and if you just don't have the time (which we DO understand, we have all been recently, or are currently, students at UC Santa Cruz) you can spend less than an hour to get a 4/6.
Any medical / family / personal circumstances - please contact your TA and me for an extension.
Any other 9.1 projects submitted up until Thursday, June 15th, 11:30pm, will be eligible for a 5/6.
