MODULE 3 + 4 MINI VIDEO TUTORIALS
MODULE 3 + 4 MINI TUTORIALS
The videos below address a few common questions I've been seeing on the discussion boards, including TEXT WRAPS, as well as questions from last quarter. Please be sure to review if you had any troubles with these specifics on the exercises, especially if you could not fully complete an exercise because of one.
MAKING COMPLEX SHAPES WITH THE PATHFINDER TOOL
Saving, Save As, Exporting and "Save for Web"
This video has a bit of intro info at the beginning more about vectors v.s. pixels. Skip to about 6:00 minute mark to get right to the Save As functions and then the Save for Web / Exporting directly afterwards.
TEXT WRAP, AREA TYPE + TYPE ON A PATH
2 things I want to clarify for working with text wraps - In order for Text Wraps to work, the object with the wrap applied needs to be "above" or "in front" of the text. To arrange the order of the objects, select the object, then go to Object > Arrange > Move to Front or Move Forward (these shortcuts are VERY useful for working in Illustrator). Additionally, the text needs to be within a text box, or Area Type - text wraps do not work with line text (the text inserted into the image by clicking the Type Tool only once on the artboard and then entering in text, line by line, as opposed to dragging the Type Tool to create the boundaries of the text box.)
Also, a few reminders of your options with this video format:
- Pop out of Canvas and watch in a new tab if any of the features aren't working
- There are fullscreen and CC (Sub-title) options available in the right hand corner. For being YouTube auto-captions, these are pretty clear. I think they must have improved their algorithm. Please email me with any accessibility needs.
- If you are feeling pressed for time, but don't want to miss anything, you can watch with audio in 1.5 speed by hitting that little gear icon.
