His first working prototype was finished in 1973, and in 1978 Kodak filed a patent for the technology it was based on. Technical introduction - Digital Images + Photographs

Digital images composed of pixel building blocks, which cannot be "enhanced" beyond their base resolution.

Resolution - and core resolution - is therefore a very important aspect of digital photos, and how we understand them as both a technology and a media.
